The tour took about 2 1/2 hours and Iva was amazing. She was multi-lingual and was able to address both Spanish and English tourists throughout the tour. Iva was upbeat, knowledgable, and made San Jose's history one to remember. My favorite parts included visiting a local coffee shop (when in Costa Rica coffee is a must, right?) and having ice cream in the Central Market (Mercado Central). Do not miss this tour!

We... read more started in the entrance of the Central Theatre to check out the statues, walked though the lovely church near by and proceeded to the market. The market is kind of like an enclosed flea market with everything from house hold supplies, meats, shoes to souvenir trinkets.

Ama made this tour absolutely delightful, sharing his passion and love for his hometown. We tried about 6 larger samples that were included in the tour price, ranging from chicharones con carne, coffee, fruits to the oldest ice cream in San Jose. If we weren’t so full, I would have loved a larger serving of the unique ice cream. So delicious! Also, I grew up eating tamales, but have never had a Costa Rican tomale which are creamy, rich and better than any I’ve ever had! Looking forward to getting more before our departure.

  This is nothing like the touristy pub crawls you know, it's made & run by locals and you will visit local bars & party at best clubs (skipping really long... read more lines of locals - which by itself proves a lot). I went solo, but I highly recommended even if you're coming with friends/your other half

There were so many things to see that the guide continued the tour even after it was supposed to finish and we really appreciated that. My boyfriend and I actually felt confident enough to walk around the city on your own the next day thanks to this tour. It was more than worth the cost and I definitely would recommend this tour to anyone going to SJO.
