  OMG.... THIS IS A MUST!!!!!! I’ve never done anything like this before... This was so much fun. At first, I thought it was going to be a cold boring night,... read more but as soon as everyone started talking to each other, the fun started. Meeting and interacting with new people was the highlight of the night; at every stop, we got to take a shot. The tour operator was very informative and so nice to everyone. I would definitely come for another night if I was staying in San Jose longer. You have to add this to your to do list if visiting San Jose, CR.

We... read more started in the entrance of the Central Theatre to check out the statues, walked though the lovely church near by and proceeded to the market. The market is kind of like an enclosed flea market with everything from house hold supplies, meats, shoes to souvenir trinkets.

Ama made this tour absolutely delightful, sharing his passion and love for his hometown. We tried about 6 larger samples that were included in the tour price, ranging from chicharones con carne, coffee, fruits to the oldest ice cream in San Jose. If we weren’t so full, I would have loved a larger serving of the unique ice cream. So delicious! Also, I grew up eating tamales, but have never had a Costa Rican tomale which are creamy, rich and better than any I’ve ever had! Looking forward to getting more before our departure.

I highly recommend this tour to get a taste of Costa Rica from Ama, a proud and patient Tico. Thank you Carpe Chepe and Ama!
