We had previously joined Carpe Chepe for the free city tour, and since we had a good time then, we decided to sign up for this pub crawl. We were not disappointed. All of our friends enjoyed themselves and we got to discover some new places ourselves as well. We visited different bars and didn't have to wait in line at any of the these places. This was really nice because some of the bars had lots of people lined up outside waiting for their turn to go inside. The guides were very friendly, bilingual, and made sure everyone enjoyed their night out. They seemed to be having a good time themselves as well and they kinda just felt like part of our group! It sometimes took a while to get drinks, but other than that we had zero complaints. We would definitely sign up for this pub crawl again in the future, or try one of the other tours that Carpe Chepe offers. If you're looking for a fun night out, this is it! …

We... read more started in the entrance of the Central Theatre to check out the statues, walked though the lovely church near by and proceeded to the market. The market is kind of like an enclosed flea market with everything from house hold supplies, meats, shoes to souvenir trinkets.

Ama made this tour absolutely delightful, sharing his passion and love for his hometown. We tried about 6 larger samples that were included in the tour price, ranging from chicharones con carne, coffee, fruits to the oldest ice cream in San Jose. If we weren’t so full, I would have loved a larger serving of the unique ice cream. So delicious! Also, I grew up eating tamales, but have never had a Costa Rican tomale which are creamy, rich and better than any I’ve ever had! Looking forward to getting more before our departure.

I highly recommend this tour to get a taste of Costa Rica from Ama, a proud and patient Tico. Thank you Carpe Chepe and Ama!

I never thought I would like San Jose, and you hear so many not great things about the city, but I really enjoyed San Jose because of this tour and our incredible guide (can't remember his name though, but the whole company is incredible!). Would highly recommend!
