The Best San Jose Costa Rica City Tours

We... read more started in the entrance of the Central Theatre to check out the statues, walked though the lovely church near by and proceeded to the market. The market is kind of like an enclosed flea market with everything from house hold supplies, meats, shoes to souvenir trinkets.

Ama made this tour absolutely delightful, sharing his passion and love for his hometown. We tried about 6 larger samples that were included in the tour price, ranging from chicharones con carne, coffee, fruits to the oldest ice cream in San Jose. If we weren’t so full, I would have loved a larger serving of the unique ice cream. So delicious! Also, I grew up eating tamales, but have never had a Costa Rican tomale which are creamy, rich and better than any I’ve ever had! Looking forward to getting more before our departure.

I highly recommend this tour to get a taste of Costa Rica from Ama, a proud and patient Tico. Thank you Carpe Chepe and Ama!

Our tour exceeded our expectations. Our... read more tour guide was Iva who spoke perfect English and taught us all about the history coffee had on Costa Rica and San Jose... and did it with passion and enthusiasm. We sampled some insanely good coffee and never felt pressured to buy any coffee, however we did purchase some that we sampled. Iva made the tour a highlight of our trip and we came away feeling even more curious and fascinated about coffee. Pura Vida!

We had a fantastic time visiting parts of the city we didn’t know existed and learning so much more about the colourful history of San Jose. Our guide was a warm and genial host and so entertaining! You must do this! Carpe form, Carpe Chepe!
